How to Apply
IMDs interested in the Career Transitions Program will be assessed for suitabilty.
Please carefully read the following instructions and follow the steps below to apply:
- Download the Career Transitions Program Intake Form by right clicking on the link below and selecting Save Target As...
- Open the form using Microsoft Excel or OpenOffice.org (see below for details).
- Complete the entire form.
- Save the form by selecting File - Save as (Ensure that the Save as type is set to Microsoft Office Excel Workbook(*.xls). Remember to save the form in an easy to find location).
- Email the form as an attachment to ct-ottawa@cic.ca
- Staff will evaluate your application and be in contact with you.

If you do not have access to Microsoft Excel you can download a free alternative called
OpenOffice.org. Once you have downloaded and installed OpenOffice.org you can use the included Calc application to open the Intake Form.
NEW:
Medical License Bridging Program for International Medical Doctors
(14 August 2008)
The Medical License Bridging Program for International Medical Doctors provides training in medical communication, healthcare culture, familiarity with Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) and Observership -based clinical work experience. This focused training supports the IMDs in passing the registration exams and obtaining residency positions as a result of:
- Improved language proficiency
- Enhanced clinical performance
- Targeted residency submission support
- Familiarity with Canadian medical practice.
The two-year Bridging Program will assist 130 IMDs throughout Eastern Ontario from July 2008 through March 2010 in seven separate cohorts. More than 120 hours are dedicated to workshops and Observerships. The workshops are conducted in Ottawa and the Observerships take place in health care facilities throughout Eastern Ontario. OSCE training and practice testing is conducted in partnership with the University of Ottawa Medical School.
